Grizzlies’ lead slips through their paws

Adams State quarterback Trevor Eggleston was 23 of 44 for a season-high 320 yards passing, finding Delton Prescott 11 times for 145 yards.

Clay Garcia threw for 296 yards and a score for the Orediggers (7-2, 5-2 RMAC), and Dan Oalmer ran for 86 yards and a score.

ThunderWolves 37, Cowboys 0

PUEBLO CSU-Pueblo improved to a school-record 9-0 Saturday in impressive fashion, using defense and a heady running game to take down New Mexico Highlands (4-5, 2-5 RMAC).

No. 7 CSU-Pueblo is off to its first 9-0 start (7-0 RMAC) in school history and ran its NCAA Division II-leading win streak to 13 games, also a school record. J.B. Mathews ran for a career-high 173 yards and three touchdowns.

Lopers 27, Mustangs 14

KEARNEY, Neb. No. 10 Nebraska-Kearney scored 20 points in the first quarter and relied on its defense to hold off Western New Mexico.

UNK (8-1, 7-1 RMAC) scored the first three times it touched the ball to lead 20-0 by the 5:08 mark of the first quarter. Offensively, quarterback Jake Spitzlberger had 72 yards rushing on 14 carries and went 19 of 32 for 189 yards passing.

David Ingram threw for 364 yards and a pair of touchdowns for WNMU (4-5, 3-4 RMAC).

Mavericks 23, Mountaineers 20

GUNNISON With the help of great running and a solid defense, Colorado Mesa beat Western State.

The Mavericks (3-6, 2-5 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) tallied 294 rushing yards, including 148 yards and two touchdowns from Jake Cimolino. Will Halboth added 83 yards on just 10 carries. Domonique Lewis had five tackles and a forced fumble, and Jordan Price had the lone interception for the Maverick defense.

Lukas Adams had a 75-yard touchdown catch for Western State (1-8, 1-6 RMAC), and Chase Yaeger scored WSCs other touchdown.
