A celebration of life for Erika Langhart will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. A reception will be held afterward from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Ms. Langhart died of a double pulmonary embolism on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, in Washington, D.C. She was 24.
She was born to Rick and Karen Langhart on May 4, 1987, and grew up in Durango.
“Just imagine what Erika could have done with another 75 years, and then live that in her memory,” her family said, quoting the Dalai Lama, “What is the meaning of life? To be happy and useful.”
Ms. Langhart is survived by her parents, Rick and Karen Langhart, of Litchfield Park, Ariz.; brother, Kyle Langhart, of the Washington, D.C., area; grandmother Ann Flatten of Durango; boyfriend, Sean Coakley, of the Washington, D.C., area; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.
