Tammy R. Ward died Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, in Durango. She was 36. The cause of death is undetermined at this time.
Mrs. Ward was born June 22, 1975, in Victoria, Texas, to Raymond and Merry Gresham Miller. She grew up and attended schools in Victoria and graduated from high school in Bloomington, Texas.
Shortly after graduating she joined the Army and was stationed in Georgia. While living in Houston after being discharged in the early 1990s, she met Brian Ward. The two were married in Richmond, Texas, on July 6, 1996, and had three children.
The Ward family lived all over Texas before moving to Durango to retire in 2011.
Mrs. Ward enjoyed making crafts, baking, cooking, animals, hiking and the splendor of the Colorado mountains. She was a wonderful caregiver to her husband and enjoyed giving surprises to her children, her family said.
“She never bought anything for herself,” they said. “She selflessly gave all that she had to everyone around her.”
Mrs. Ward is survived by her husband of 17 years, Brian Ward, of Durango; daughters Shelby Miller and Briana Ward, both of Durango; son, Donald Ward, of Durango; parents, Ray and Rhonda Miller, of Hobbs, N.M.; sister, Aimee Thomas, of Ocala, Fla.; step-brother, Barry Marks, of Lovington, N.M.; three aunts; step-grandparents; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation will occur. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
