The self-appointed welcoming committee

Linda Jones’ goal is to greet the train every morning for 30 days. “No one pays me, or ever will,” Jones said Friday morning as she greeted passengers on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad along U.S. Highway 550 as it moved north through the Animas Valley. “I do this because of the smiles it brings to the passengers’ faces, and smiling makes my day.” Jones began her welcoming effort during the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic this year.
