Reese Martin, a 5-year-old whom Durangoans treated to a Make-A-Wish trip in April, died Thursday, July 5, 2012, in Chattanooga, Tenn. He had been fighting cancer for some time.
Reese was born to Barry and Regennia Martin on Jan. 10, 2007.
“He played hard, laughed often and loved completely,” his family said. “In his five short years, he filled each day with his favorite things – toys, food, friends, girls and family. Trains, cars, fire trucks and balls were his favorite toys.”
Reese had told the Make-A-Wish Foundation that he loved trains and wanted to play in the snow. Numerous people and businesses in Durango made his wish come true at the beginning of April.
Reese is survived by his parents, Barry and Regennia Martin, of Chattanooga; little brother, Riley Martin, of Chattanooga; and numerous extended family members including grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral was held Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Christ United Methodist Church in Chattanooga. Burial took place at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in McDonald, Tenn.
