Former Durango resident Hazel Elaine Robison died of complications from Alzheimer’s disease Saturday, July 21, 2012, in Denver. She was 82.
Mrs. Robison was born to Alfred and Jane Mutch on Nov. 25, 1929, in Mankato, Minn. She grew up in Minnesota, graduating from Lake Crystal High School in 1947 and attending Mankato Commercial College. She worked for an insurance company for five years in Owatonna, Minn.
Mrs. Robison moved to Denver in the early 1950s and worked as an insurance secretary and underwriter until 1978.

Mrs. Robison cared for her parents until their deaths in 1992. In July 1994, her husband suffered a stroke, and she cared for him until his death March 3, 2009, four days before their 39th wedding anniversary.
She moved back to Denver and was cared for by her stepson Gerry Robison and his wife, Linda, until her death.
“Hazel was loved by everyone,” her family said. “She had a loving, gentle personality. She was also a gifted artist who derived much pleasure from her many paintings and crafts.”
