A peaceful answer to violence

Alternative Horizons worked with the 6th Judicial Service Learning Unit to focus on learning about the dynamics of violence in intimate relationships and then creating art to raise awareness of this issue. The students who participated will have their art exhibited through Wednesday at Raider Ridge Cafe on Eighth Avenue. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Alternative Horizons has several art-related events planned. The Survivor Art Show and Domestic Violence 101 will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Durango Community Recreation Center and the Forget-me-not Art Fundraiser will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at Cocktails and Creations on Main Avenue. For more information and a full schedule of the month’s events, call 247-4374 or email info@alternativehorizons.org. Enlarge photo
