Former Durango resident Amber Dawn Davidovich died from injuries suffered in a hit-and-run incident Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, in Grand Junction. She was 32. The cause of death is under investigation.
Ms. Davidovich was born to George and Debra Davidovich on Dec. 6, 1979, in Durango. She spent her childhood in Durango and Florence. Her great-grandmother, Helen Burkett, was the founder of Helen’s Store, which her grandmother, Anna Marie Shilling, also ran for many years.
Ms. Davidovich earned her associate’s degree in accounting from Intellitec College in Grand Junction.
In 2002, she married Alejandro Gomez in Las Vegas.
For the past nine years, Ms. Davidovich worked for The Daily Sentinel in Grand Junction as a telemarketer selling subscriptions.
Her family said she enjoyed floating down the Colorado River and visiting the Colorado National Monument.
Ms. Davidovich is survived by her husband of 10 years, Alejandro Gomez, of Clifton; daughter, Carmen Olivia Gomez, of Clifton; son, Maddox Xavier Gomez, of Clifton; father, George Davidovich, of Paonia; mother, Debra Davidovich, of Palisade; brothers Stephen Davidovich of Bayfield and Jason Davidovich of Hotchkiss; grandmother Anna Marie Shilling of Durango; and two nephews and a niece.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Road in Grand Junction.
Memorial contributions for her children may be made to the Amber Davidovich Gomez Fund at any Alpine Bank.
