Kennedy Clark, Mikayla Montoya and Durango will look to dig up a third consecutive state berth with a victory at home in Saturday’s Class 4A regional at DHS.

All three local high school volleyball teams will have a shot Saturday at qualifying for state, with two hosting their regional volleyball tournament.

Class 4A No. 8 seed Durango will host its CHSAA regional tournament, Class 3A No. 3 seed Bayfield will host as well, and Class 2A Ignacio will travel to Telluride this weekend.

The winner of each regional tournament – 12 in Class 4A and 3A and eight in 2A – will travel to the CHSAA State Championships starting Nov. 9 in Denver.

The Demons will take on No. 17 Pueblo West and No. 29 Delta starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at Durango High School. Durango opens play against Delta, then will take a match off before meeting Pueblo West, tentatively scheduled for a noon start time.

All of Durango’s Class 4A Southwestern League competitors also qualified for regionals – Montrose getting the No. 19 seed and Montezuma-Cortez the No. 35 seed.

At Bayfield, the Wolverines will play No. 22 Jefferson Academy and No. 34 Trinidad starting at 9 a.m.

And in Telluride, the Bobcats will play Telluride – who won the San Juan Basin League district tournament at Ignacio High School last Saturday – and Meeker, with play starting at 10 a.m.
