Ignacio resident Consuela Manzanares-Silva died of breast cancer Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at her home. She was 53.

Known as “Connie,” she was born to George and Susan Manzanares on Feb. 11, 1959, in Monte Vista. She grew up in Ignacio and attended Ignacio High School.

She was an avid outdoorswoman who loved to fish and camp. Mrs. Manzanares-Silva also loved to travel and spend time with friends, family and her dog, Killer.

In the mid-2000s, she married Francisco Jimenez in Ignacio.

For the last three years, Mrs. Manzanares-Silva has been a timekeeper for professional and amateur bouts for USA Boxing, both at the Sky Ute Casino and Resort and in New Mexico.

“She was thrilled about being a professional/amateur timekeeper,” her family said. “She loved and appreciated her parents and will forever hold them dear in her heart. She had a kind heart and was beloved by all.”

A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 15449 Colorado Highway 172 in Ignacio.

A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, also at St. Ignatius. The Rev. Douglas Hunt will be the officiant.
