The Fort Lewis College men’s basketball team dropped an 83-63 exhibition decision to Westminster College in Salt Lake City on Friday night.
The Skyhawks, who lost to Division I Wyoming 82-61 earlier this week in another exhibition game, trailed 42-33 at halftime.
Marcus Ayala and Nick Tomsick led the Skyhawks with 12 points each. Wes McKenzie added eight points for the Skyhawks.
Former Ignacio High School star Alex Herrera, a sophomore, scored six points for the Skyhawks and led the team with six rebounds.
Colton Moon, with a perfect 10-for-10 from the field, led Westminster with a game-high 18 points. He was 4 of 4 from behind the 3-point line against FLC.
Jake Orchard added 13 points. Tallon Robertson scored 11 for Westminster, an NAIA school.
The Griffins shot 56 percent from the field.
FLC managed 38 percent shooting. The Skyhawks hit only 3 of 21 from behind the 3-point line. The Griffins converted 8 of 17 shots from long range.
For the second consecutive scrimmage, FLC head coach Bob Hofman used all 13 players on the Skyhawks’ roster.
The Skyhawks will play their third of four exhibition games this preseason against the University of Montana Western from Dillon, Mont., at 5 p.m. today in Salt Lake City.
