Durango High School football went out on a high note by simply overpowering an undermanned Montezuma-Cortez squad.
Tyler Worley ran for 245 yards on 24 carries and added a touchdown as Durango rolled past the Panthers 34-10 on Friday night in their nonconference season finale in Cortez.
“It was a good night all around,” DHS head coach Greg Wyatt said on the 99.7 KPTE FM postgame radio show. “Hayden (Sill) threw well; Tyler just ran hard. The line, there were some incredible domination blocks, we call it, when you put someone on their back.”
Blake Dunlap caught six passes for 102 yards and a touchdown, and Dane Mestas had two interceptions in a game that was more lopsided than the score, with Durango (4-6) having a handful of big plays called back because of penalties.
