Strike up the band

The Bayfield High School marching band placed second in Class 2A in the Colorado Bandmasters Association State Marching Band Championships last weekend in Pueblo, band director Derek Smith said. He said the band was awarded 61 points at the competition. Weve never scored higher than 60 before. It felt good, Smith said. The band was back in town to perform as the Wolverines played the Trinidad Miners on Saturday in the first round of the CHSAA Class 2A Boys Football State Championships. (See Page 1C).
