Leo Campbell

Former Durango resident Leo Campbell died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at his home in Grand Junction. He was 85.

Mr. Campbell founded Campbell’s Scale Models in the 1960s in Santa Ana, Calif. He moved the business to Durango in 1991, when he and his wife, Ruth, moved here, and ran it until he sold it in 2004.

The Campbells moved to Grand Junction in the mid-2000s.

Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife, Ruth Campbell, of Grand Junction; daughters Linda Almstadt of Grand Junction, Robin Topp of Burbank, Calif., and Judith Guyer of Zurich; son, Kevin Campbell, of Sacramento, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at the Western Colorado Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2830 Riverside Parkway in Grand Junction.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, 3090 N. 12th St., No. B, Grand Junction, CO 81506; or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
