Ignacio resident Kurt Matthew Flores died suddenly of a heart attack Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, while helping one of his mother’s neighbors in Auburn, Calif. He was 58.
Mr. Flores was born to John and Leta Flores on July 20, 1954, in Auburn.
When he was very young, he married Melinda Flores. The couple had two children before the marriage ended in divorce.
He had lived in Southwest Colorado since the 1970s, when he was a maintenance man at Forest Lakes. Most recently, he enjoyed working as a maintenance supervisor at the Shur Valu in Ignacio, where Mr. Flores had lived for the last eight years. He had also lived in Vallecito and Bayfield.
He married Candy Flores, and the couple had a daughter, Freda, before the marriage ended in divorce.
In his spare time, Mr. Flores enjoyed fishing.
“He brought much laughter, love and kindness to his friends and family,” his family said.
Mr. Flores is survived by his mother, Leta Johnson of Auburn; father and stepmother, John and Joanne Flores of Newcastle, Calif.; daughters Michelle Kuffler of Arnold, Calif., and Freda Grice, of Irving, Texas; son, Michael Flores, of Frontenac, Kan., brother Robert Flores of Ignacio; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be held in Auburn.
