Ignacio resident Harold Duane Seibel died from complications of Crohn’s disease Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at his home. He was 64.

Mr. Seibel was born to Willard and Betty Seibel on Feb. 27, 1948, in Durango. He grew up in Arboles and attended the Allison Community Country School during his primary years. He attended junior high and high school in Ignacio, graduating in 1966.

Mr. Seibel graduated from Fort Lewis College in 1971.

While attending FLC, he met Lillian Weaver. The couple married in Aztec.

Mr. Seibel began a long career of carpentry and construction, working on various projects around the Four Corners.

When he was not working, he had a great passion for art, his family said. He enjoyed painting, drawing and sculpture.

Mr. Seibel was an avid sports fan of his grandchildren’s activities. He traveled to as many games as he could, braving all kinds of weather.

He was a member of the Ignacio Baha’í Community.

Mr. Seibel is survived by his wife of more than 40 years, Lillian Seibel, of Ignacio; sons Vince Mirabal and Shane Seibel, both of Ignacio; mother, Betty Seibel of Arboles; sisters Judy McDonald of Arboles, Marylin Warren of the Colorado Springs area and Karen Espalmer of Indiana; brothers Kenneth Seibel of Arboles and Vince Seibel of Ignacio; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Ignacio West Cemetery.
