Former Durango resident Jack Francis Lemire died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at the Life Care Center of Reno. He was 87.
Mr. Lemire was born Dec. 15, 1925.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Allan Lemire, his son, said his father lived in Durango in the early 2000s, and he was retired at the time.
Mr. Lemire also worked as a school-bus driver and as an electrician for a number of years. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
“Jack will be forever remembered for his tenacious demeanor, sense of humor and strong sense of independence,” his family said.
He is survived by his daughter Crystal Andasola of Durango; sons Allan Lemire and Deane Lemire, both of Reno; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 20, 2012, at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, Nev., in Reno. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mr. Lemire’s honor to a favorite charity.
