Mayan calendar predicted positive shift

On the evening of Aug. 16, 1987, I attended a gathering of like-minded souls to celebrate an event that was termed “the harmonic convergence” (skeptics called it “the moronic convergence”), which, according to the ancient Maya, was noting an alignment of seven planets in our solar system that would result in the “Age of Aquarius” and the beginning of the new age of peace, love and unity.

The actual start of the change would be marked by the end of the Mayan long count calendar, which was the winter solstice of 2012, Dec. 21.

Contrary to all the hoopla in the form of books, movies, etc., this date was not the cataclysmic end of our beloved mother Earth, but rather the beginning of the wondrous transformation where the human inhabitants of the planet would begin to change their minds about who and what they believed they were. Rather than being separated ego/personalities who were fearful, isolated, limited and short-lived, they would begin to be the God-centered, eternal souls that they truly were. This would begin to occur by their learning to recognize the voice of their hearts and then following it unconditionally and unerringly. That voice is always loving, positive, encouraging, expansive and inclusive – the exact opposite of the ego’s.

Every morning, I begin my day by saying, aloud, “I am not a body, I am free, I am as God created me.” It occurred to me recently that we have the power within us right now to being to effect that change. There needn’t be any major upheavals of cosmic “magic dust” to force the alteration. All that’s required is a change of mind and heart.

I write this on Christmas Eve, which, to me, the holiest night of the year where most people are more peaceful and loving; more their true selves. In the words of sweet Tiny Tim, “God bless us, every one.”
