Former Durango resident Anna Rose Davies died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, in Colorado Springs. She had turned 93 two days earlier. Her health had been deteriorating for some time.
Mrs. Davies was born to Rolla and Mable Ohler on Dec. 29, 1919, in Rising Sun, Ohio. She was one of five children and graduated from Montgomery High School in Wayne, Ohio.
On Nov. 19, 1942, she married Paul L. Davies in Rising Sun.
She later moved to Moline, Ill., and worked at the Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, Ill., until she retired.
Roses, especially red ones, were her favorite flower, and earlier in life, she enjoyed going to dances. She also enjoyed doing crafts, listening to big band music and working in her yard.
After her son and daughter moved to Colorado, she followed them, living in Durango from 2005 to 2010, before moving to Colorado Springs.
Mrs. Davies was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Paul L. Davies, in 1982.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula Bain, of Pagosa Springs; son, Victor Davies, of Colorado Springs; sister Mary Swain of Muscatine, Iowa; brother Glen Ohler of Wayne, Ohio; and one granddaughter.
Cremation has occurred. No services are planned at this time.
