The Native American Center celebrated the arrival of a totem pole carved by Southeast Alaska Tsimshian natives David A. Boxley and his son, David R. Boxley. The totem pole celebrates Alaskan native students at Fort Lewis College. A group of dancers came with the Boxleys and performed the Raven Dance. David R. Boxley, drumming in back, said the group’s name, Git-Hoan, means “People of the Salmon” in Tsimshian.
