Local ski areas are jubilant about the bounty left by a recent series of storms.

“Mother Nature smiled down at Durango Mountain Resort and dumped more than 3 feet of snow in just 72 hours,” a Tuesday news release from the ski area said. “From Saturday morning to Monday evening, the series of storms dropped 37 inches of snow at Purgatory, creating an epic alpine nirvana.”

The ski area was reporting a 60-inch base.

“Skiers and riders can expect a fantastic powder experience and sunny, bluebird days this week!” the release enthused.

Silverton Mountain reported receiving 48 inches in 48 hours.

“The storm continues to deliver with the deepest snow Silverton Mountain has seen in several years,” the expert-terrain ski area said in a news release. “Skiers and snowboarders were neck deep.”

Silverton Mountain was reporting a mid-mountain base of 60 inches. Wolf Creek Ski Area had 73 inches and Telluride had 44 inches.
