Personal property declarations mailed

Personal property declarations will be mailed soon.

People who own a business or rental personal property (including vacation rentals) as of Jan. 1, with a total actual value greater than $7,000 per county are required to report their personal property assets to the county assessor on or before April 15. This includes household furnishings used to produce income and the furniture, fixtures and equipment used in a business.

People failing to file a declaration schedule on or before April 15, will be penalized $50 or 15 percent of the tax due, whichever is less. Filing extensions are available. Failure to make a full and accurate disclosure by that date will result in an additional penalty of 25 percent of the assessed value of the discovered omitted property.
