BHS ‘balanced’ in W at Mancos

Wolverines: ‘Nice to get a win’

The Wolverines badly wanted another win.

They got a big one.

The Bayfield High School boys basketball team beat Mancos 53-28 on Tuesday night in Mancos to double its season win total to two.

“Nice to get a win, that’s for sure,” BHS head coach Bill Hesford said.

“Really balanced scoring, we shared the basketball ... we finally started playing inside out, so I think that was the difference.”

Geoff Pope kicked off the game with a pair of 3 pointers. He finished with 14 points and five rebounds.

Tyler Kerr and Preston Hardy each had 11 points and seven rebounds.

“Our guys played together, we worked together, and we got it done as a team,” Hesford said.

BHS (2-10) will host Centauri at 7 p.m. Friday and Alamosa at 3 p.m. Saturday in a pair of Intermountain League games; both will be aired on KLJH 107.1 FM.
