HEALTH Day coming to Durango fairgrounds

The Southwestern Colorado Area Health Education Center, in conjunction with CREATE Health and Southwest Colorado Community College, will offer HEALTH Day from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 4 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.

This event is to encourage students in choosing health as a career. HEALTH Day, which stands for Hands-on Experience and Leadership for Tomorrow’s Healthcare professionals, will include a teacher/counselor session.

The morning will include hands-on activities, such as suturing and making clay hearts, while the afternoon will consist of one-on-one time with health-care professionals to learn about their work and seminars about preparing personal statements and filling out applications.

The center is seeking students to attend, and health-care professionals, sponsors and volunteers to help during the day. Registration is due by Feb. 18.
