Former Bayfield resident Alta Vera Morris died Monday, March 4, 2013, at the Valley Inn in Mancos. She was two months shy of her 99th birthday.
Mrs. Morris was born to James and Flossie LaVan on May 7, 1914, in Sharon, Pa. Her family moved to Colorado when she was about 10.
A homemaker, Mrs. Morris spent much of her adult life in Pueblo, but had lived in Durango with her family for a time in the 1950s. She moved from Pueblo to Bayfield about 19 years ago.
Mrs. Morris was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for a number of years. An avid fan of the Colorado Rockies, she enjoyed doing needlepoint, camping and fishing.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Mountain View Cemetery, 1315 Acero Ave., in Pueblo.
