Durango graduate’s husband nets a million

Yuen Yung swam with the sharks – the investment sharks on ABC’s “Shark Tank,” that is – and came out on top.

Yung, husband of 1997 Durango High School graduate Yvette LeVrier-Yung, and his brother, Peter, appeared on the show Feb. 15 and received a $1 million funding offer from “shark” investor Kevin O’Leary in exchange for 20 percent equity in their company.

The brothers requested investment capital to expand their Austin, Texas-based restaurant How Do You Roll?. The sushi restaurant was founded in 2008 in Austin and has since opened locations in California, Arizona, Texas and Florida.

Shark Tank brings five investors, or sharks, who hear pitches for new businesses and products from entrepreneurs and make offers if they think it’s a viable idea.

The duo is still in “due diligence” negotiations with O’Leary, Yvette LeVrier-Yung said.
