Health screenings to be offered

The San Juan Basin Health Department’s Senior Nurse Navigator program will offer health screenings to senior citizens from 11 a.m. to noon at these locations:

The first Wednesday of the month at Pine River Senior Center, 111 W. South St. in Bayfield.

The second Wednesday of the month at the Durango/La Plata Senior Center, 2424 Main Ave.

The last Thursday of the month at the Ignacio Senior Center, 15378 Colorado Highway 172 in Ignacio.

Healthy Communities announces events

Celebrating Healthy Communities announces these happenings:

Adult role model nomination forms are due Friday. Forms are available at www.sjbhd.org/celebrating-healthy-communities.

The Diversity Dialogue, facilitated by the youth-adult partnership Embracing Diversity Initiative, will take place from 8:45 a.m. to noon Saturday at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave. RSVP by today to Lpatters@frontier.net or call 259-1247.

Kick Butts Day will take place at noon March 20 at Fort Lewis College Student Union.

The Celebrating Healthy Communities Coalition will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 21 at Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave. Lunch will be provided.

Public Health Outreach will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. April 4.

Allergy discussion to be held Thursday

Advanced Allergy Relief Center of the Southwest will present “Resolving Airborne Allergies and Allergic Asthma” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Program Room 2 of Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Caleb Gates, licensed acupuncturist, will discuss how symptoms from airborne allergies and allergic asthma can be resolved with Advanced Allergy Therapeutics.

Telluride to host wellness festival

Telluride will host the Ultimate Health and Wellness Festival: Telluride WOW from Sept. 19 to 22.

Presenters, instructors and athletes will lecture and hold fitness classes about the latest health, fitness, wellness, nutrition and medical trends. Festival participants can go on group hikes, mountain climbs, road and mountain bike rides, and attend workshops and seminars in a variety of disciplines.
