Backpacking workshop to be held Thursday

San Juan Mountains Association volunteers and experienced backpackers Will Rietveld and Janet Reichl will cover lightweight principles, gear and techniques for lightening a pack and increasing enjoyment of backpacking during a workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Public Lands Center, 15 Burnett Court in Durango.

Author’s group set to meet March 20

The Durango Indie Author’s Group will meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. March 20 in the upstairs conference room of Pine River Valley Bank, 1702 Main Ave.

There will be a question-and-answer session about writing, publishing and marketing. Participants are asked to come prepared with three questions to share.

The group will work in a round-robin format to exchange experiences and ideas.
