March is Brain Injury Awareness Month

Gov. John Hickenlooper has proclaimed March to be Brain Injury Awareness Month in Colorado.

Brain injuries result from a multitude of causes. The Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado offers support through information resource referrals, Colorado TBI Trust Fund, professional networking groups, support groups, Challenge by Choice: Adventure & Recreation programs, and professional and survivor conferences.

Low-cost dental available in Pagosa

Children can get low-cost dental services in Pagosa Springs through the San Juan Basin Health Departmentís Southwest Smile Makers on March 26.

The programís dental hygienist provides screenings, cleanings, fluoride varnish, sealants and brushing education for children ages 2 to 21. CHP-plus and Medicaid are accepted. Otherwise, services are provided on a sliding fee scale. The services are offered the last Tuesday of every month.

Gentle yoga classes canceled this week

Gentle yoga classes with Jennifer Kiel, certified yoga instructor, will be canceled today and Thursday for the Bach festival at St. Markís Episcopal Church.

The classes usually take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Mondays and Thursdays at St. Markís, 910 East Third Ave. The class is geared toward senior citizens and those new to yoga. Drop-ins and beginners are welcome.
