Bayfield High School got back to the track this weekend at the Piedra Vista Invitational in Farmington.
The girls squad finished fourth behind champion Piedra Vista, while the boys were eighth behind victorious Aztec as BHS took a somewhat smaller squad to the event. The Ignacio High School boys also competed, finishing 13th.
John Arnold of Bayfield won the pole vault with a vault of 11 feet, 6 inches, and Aubry Brown won the discus with a throw of 129-03.
Bayfield’s Brittany Hunter turned in a runner-up finish in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 1 minute, 5.91 seconds. Danielle Miller added a fourth-place finish in the 800, finishing in a time of 2:50.80.
The 4x100 relay team of Amy Roach, Morgan Allred, Jessie Roukema and Ashlyn Schulder finished fifth in 56.47 seconds.
Aubree Lorenzen had a sixth-place finish for the Wolverines in the 3200, finishing in 14:10.25.
Samantha Espinosa gave the Wolverines a third-place finish in the shot put, throwing an even 32 feet. Espinosa also added a third-place finish in the discus, throwing 90 feet, 06 inches while Ignacio’s Ashley Kienitz was seventh at 75-10.
Keith Wickman was third in the 100 for the Bayfield boys, coming in at 11.73 seconds. He added another third in the 200, finishing in 23.77 seconds.
Bayfield’s Nate Tate picked up a third-place finish in the 400 with a time of 56.38 seconds.
Wyatt Hayes was fifth in 2:13.21 in the 800, a race in which teammate Mike Perez finished eighth.
Luke Webb was sixth in the 3200 for BHS, while the 4x400 relay team of Brady Fields, Conner Kennedy, Garrett Marr and Tate was sixth. TJ Pazell also was sixth in the javelin for the Wolverines.
