KOA to host fundraiser for Care Camps

The Durango KOA Campground, 30090 U.S. Highway 160, east of Farmington Hill, will offer a free night of camping May 11 to all campers who stay at the campground as paying guests May 10 as part of KOA’s 10th anniversary KOA Care Camps “Big Weekend.”

Several events are planned to entertain campers and help raise funds to support KOA Care Camps, a system of 52 specialized summer camps around North America that provide a summer-camp experience for children with cancer and their siblings.

Chamber to host ‘Tuesday Talk’ on May 7

The Durango Chamber of Commerce will host a “Tuesday Talk” at 7:45 a.m. May 7 at Carver Brewing Co., 1022 Main Ave.

This is a casual networking event. Coffee will be provided. Reservations are required.

Big Brothers Big Sisters announces new hire

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Colorado welcomes Amanda Sellers as the community-based program specialist.

Sellers is a former case manager in the La Plata County Department of Human Services. She also has been a Big Sister for the last two years. Sellers graduated from Fort Lewis College in 2010 with a degree in sociology.
