Jacquelyn Ann Kelley

Jacquelyn Ann Kelley died Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango. She was 81.

Known as “Jackie,” she was born to John and Helen Tubbs on Oct. 20, 1931, in Davenport, Iowa. She was the couple’s only child.

In June 1979, she married Larry Kelley in Milpitas, Calif.

Mrs. Kelley worked as a secretary at Cripp’s Institute of Oceanography in La Jolla, Calif., from 1967 to 1975.

She moved to the Middle Mesa area in New Mexico in 1981. Mrs. Kelley worked as an administrative secretary at Durango High School for a decade before retiring in the early 1990s.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ignacio, where she played the piano and organ.

She loved her pets, reading, playing the piano and organ for her church, living on Middle Mesa and wildlife, her family said.

Mrs. Kelley was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Kelley.

She is survived by her sons, Gary Dorland of Golden, Miss., and Michael Sindelar of Middle Mesa; daughter Robyn Self of Middle Mesa; stepdaughters Lorelei Kelley of Henderson, Nev., and Jackie Kelley of Santa Rosa, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. today, April 27, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Ignacio, 320 Lakin St. The Rev. Frank Kihn will officiate.
