Durango woman, 19, found dead

By Jordyn Dahl Herald staff writer

A 19-year-old woman was found dead in her bathtub Sunday.

Celine Bleger, daughter of Jean-Pierre Bleger, owner of Le Café Chic & Wine Bar on Main Avenue, was found by her mother early Sunday morning at her home in the east 800 block of Third Street.

Authorities were investigating the cause of death. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, said Durango Police Department Detective Burke Baldwin.

Foul play is not suspected at this time, he said.

It appears she was taking a shower and hit her head, knocking herself unconscious and drowned in the bathtub, said Jean-Pierre Bleger.

Celine Bleger worked at the bakery in various positions and was passionate about movies, he said.

“She kept a list of hundreds of movies that she would see. She was just a happy lady,” he said. “I’m overwhelmed by the people who have been coming to us and visiting us.”
