A&E Happenings for May 23

Courtesy of Canyons of the Ancients National Monument

Jeff Potter of Alameda, N.M., will conclude his artist-in-residency at Canyons of the Ancients National Monument on Tuesday. Potter uses pastels and oil paints to capture the sensations of light and weather on the land. He also hand-pulls color woodblock and linoleum prints in the style of Everett Ruess, the Southwestern artist who disappeared in the canyon country more than 70 years ago. Potter, like all of the artists in residence, will donate digital versions of his completed artwork to the Bureau of Land Management.
