Snow at Snowdown?

Weather forecast says it’s possible

Durangoans should get out their umbrellas but keep their snowboots handy during the next few days.

“In the early stages of this storm, probably starting Thursday morning, you’ll get rain in Durango,” said meteorologist Paul Frisbie with the Grand Junction Office of the National Weather Service, “But by Friday, it should turn to snow, and if you get it, you’ll get accumulation.”

Frisbie estimated a possible accumulation of 2 to 5 inches in town, just in time for the Snowdown Light Parade. The San Juan Mountains, where the chance for snow ranges between 80 and 90 percent Thursday and Friday, will receive anywhere from 8 inches to 2 feet.

“Everybody gets snow: Telluride, Durango Mountain Resort, Wolf Creek,” Frisbie said. “Nobody gets cheated.”
