Ridgway runs past IHS girls soccer

Ward scores Bobcats’ second goal of the season

The Ignacio Bobcats got on the scoreboard for the second consecutive game, but it wasn’t enough for the team’s first win of the season.

IHS (0-6, 0-6 3A Region 5) fell 5-1 on Saturday at home against league foe Ridgway (2-5, 2-5 3A Region 5).

Rebecca Ward scored the lone goal for the Bobcats, who have scored just two goals all season while allowing 39 to their opponents. It’s the second consecutive game the Bobcats have scored a goal.

Ignacio head coach Oscar Cosio said he just wants to see improvement from game to game. Back-to-back goals will do it.

The Bobcats again will try for their first win of the season at 4 p.m. Tuesday at home against Pagosa Springs (2-3-2, 2-2-2 3A Region 5).
