Bobcats score another in defeat

Pagosa Springs uses a strong first half to beat IHS girls soccer

For the third consecutive game, the Ignacio Bobcats have scored a goal.

For the third consecutive game, it’s been a different goal scorer, too.

“They’re pretty happy about that,” Ignacio High School girls soccer head coach Oscar Cosio said. “They’re excited.”

Pagosa Springs beat Ignacio 6-1 on Tuesday at Pagosa Springs to run the Bobcats’ overall record to 0-6.

This game, IHS senior Jasmine Red scored the Bobcats’ lone goal.

“We’re spreading it around,” Cosio said.

Red converted a penalty kick for the goal.

Pagosa Springs scored all six of their goals in the first half.

“We came out flat, no energy,” Cosio said. “They had some good legs ... came out and put six on us in probably the first 25 minutes.”

The second half, however, “we made some adjustments at halftime and shut ’em out. That’s a positive. We got it together and worked well as a team. That was our highlight.”

Ignacio next will play at Ridgway on Friday.
