U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton, R-Cortez, will visit Durango to attend a number of events Thursday and tour various facilities, including his alma mater, Fort Lewis College.
Tipton will be touring La Plata Integrated Healthcare from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Thursday.
The purpose for the tour is to learn about services they provide in the community and discuss issues impacting providers, according to a Wednesday news release.
The congressman will speak to FLC student business groups from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Education/Business Hall.
He plans to visit with students and participate on a panel of business leaders to discuss small businesses and entrepreneurship. Tipton will also answer questions from students.
Tipton, raised in Cortez, was state representative from 2009-10, and in 2010 was elected U.S. representative. He studied political science at FLC and founded Mesa Verde Indian Pottery, a business he co-owns with his brother Joe in Cortez.
He is up for re-election in November.
