Relays led the way for the Ignacio High School track and field team at the San Juan Basin League Championships on Saturday in Grand Junction.
The Bobcats’ girls 4x200-meter relay team of Amya Bison, Rachel Cooper, Jaylynn Herrera and DaShona Lloyd finished second in 1 minute, 59.53 seconds.
Their girls 4x100-meter squad of Bison, Lloyd, Savannah Turner and Chrystianne Valdez also was second at 55.45 seconds.
Ignacio’s boys 4x100-meter team of Wyatt Hayes, Christian Knoll, Blaine Mickey and Mike Perez took second in 46.55 seconds.
Hayes, whose photo appears on the milesplit.com website cover, had a solid day individually, as well. He won the boys 400-meter dash in 53.12 seconds and finished third in the boys long jump at 20 feet, 1.25 inches.
Knoll won the boys 200-meter dash in 23.56 seconds.
Kelton Richmond won both the boys discus and shot put. He threw the discus 128-04 and the shot 42-04.
Adam Herrera won the boys long jump at 21-01.5.
The Bobcats next will compete at the Colorado High School Activities Association State Championships on Thursday through Saturday in Lakewood.
