Skyhawks softball adds bats for 2015

FLC adds a pair of biology majors with power at the plate

Two more bats will join the Fort Lewis College softball lineup in 2015.

FLC head coach Kira Zeiter announced the signings of Tristen Gilbert and Amanda Gonzalez in a recent news release.

Gilbert started three years for Basha High School in Gilbert, Arizona, at first and third base. She was named to the Adidas Future All-Star team and finished third in the Triple Crown Sports nationals with the Arizona Mizuno Storm.

“Tristen is a powerful hitter, and she will be able to show that in the (Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference),” Zeiter said in the release. “She will also add more depth at the corners positions. She always has a smile on her face and will bring that positivity to our team.”

Gonzalez made two all-district second teams at Los Lunas High School in Los Lunas, New Mexico.

“Amanda will bring another solid bat to our team,” Zeiter said. “She has a lot of power, and she will also be there to add another catcher to the staff. She has the drive to succeed at our level.”

Both players plan to major in biology at FLC.

The Skyhawks went 26-29 in 2014 and played in the RMAC tournament championship game for the second time in the last three seasons.
