It could be another long Durango City Council meeting Tuesday night.

While the council held two public hearings last month on recreational and medical marijuana code, this will the first look at the proposed new fee schedule. The council will also take up rules for vacation rentals.

The proposed fee schedule for retail marijuana stores would be the same for retail marijuana testing facilities and medical pot dispensaries if the council approves it. Recreational pot sales are expected to become legal July 1.

Fees for medical, retail stores and retail testing facilities are:

Part of state application fee for a new license: $2,500

Part of state application fee for a new license for co-location or retail conversion: $250

License fee new store or testing facility: $2,500

Operating fee: $5,000

Renewal fee: $3,000

Late renewal fee: $500

LLC membership or stock structure change: $1,000

Background investigation: $250 per person

Modification of premises: $2,000

Trade name change: $1,000

The state fee for a new license for retail stores and test facilities is $5,000 and half of that is sent to the local city or county. State law doesn’t specify that for medical marijuana centers.

The agenda materials also has a comparison of what other Colorado cities and counties are charging. Pueblo County is charging a $6,000 renewal fee for a retail store and $1,500 renewal fee for a testing facility. A license in Fort Collins costs $3,000 for a retail store and $2,000 for a testing facility. Telluride is charging $1,000 to transfer ownership, while Breckenridge fee is $250.
