Bayfield High School athletic director. Fort Lewis College athletic director. Now, Dave Preszler can add Durango High School athletic director to his résumé.
Preszler, the former BHS and FLC athletic director, was named the new DHS athletic director, effective July 1, according to a news release from Durango School District 9-R on Tuesday.
Preszler has been the BHS athletic director and assistant principal for the last eight years.
Before BHS, Preszler served as the FLC athletic director for five years.
Preszler also was the FLC football head coach for two years, going 6-15 overall and 5-9 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference during the 1994 and ’95 seasons. He also coached football at Montana State and has 35 years of experience in academics and education at the college and high school levels.
“Durango High School and the Durango community are blessed to have Dave leading activities and athletics at DHS,” principal Leanne Garcia said in the news release. “Dave has strong connections to the Durango community and understands the unique challenges we face as a competitive 4A school on the Western Slope. His depth of knowledge and experience as an athletic director at both the high school and college level will be a huge asset for our school and our programs.”
Preszler replaces Roxanne Perrin, who was hired Aug. 14, 2013, then resigned less than a year later.
