Morrissey best qualified to be treasurer

The La Plata County treasurer job is up for a competitive election this year. The first time in almost 30 years! That means our vote counts in electing the most qualified person for this position. It may be another 30 years before we get this opportunity again.

The La Plata County treasurer’s job is essentially an accounting job. The person supervises the collection of taxes, investment of these dollars – and ensuring there is enough money to pay the bills. We need an accounting specialist for this job. We need someone with an accounting degree (a Master of Business Administration degree would be helpful) and experience in tax and financial processes. This is a financial professional’s position. There is only one candidate who has all of these necessary qualifications.

By voting for Allison Morrissey we will get knowledge, experience and a good problem solver as our next county treasurer. She is the right person for the job because of her more than two decades of professional management experience with Fortune 100 Companies, such as Microsoft. She is the only candidate with an accounting degree and a MBA. She knows it’s our money, not hers or her family’s. She will manage it wisely – as she has done for Bill Gates.
