Summertime concert series at Three Springs

Summer is upon us, and for some that means spending as much time outside as one possibly can. And in Durango, that often means outdoor concerts galore.

Three Springs welcomes musician Dave Mensch to the Three Springs Plaza stage for a free, open air performance from 5 to 7 p.m. July 23, according to a news release issued by Three Springs.

Dave Mensch is the founder of the band Formula 151, which placed first in the second round of the Bodog Music Battle of the Bands in Denver.

Mensch echoes the musical influences of Dave Matthews, Staind, Matchbox Twenty, Bob Schneider and Daughtry, according to the release.

This event is one of many in a series of Three Springs summertime festivities, entitled “Summer Sounds in the Plaza.” Also, on the schedule of summer events are the “Free Outdoor Movie Nights,” which started in 2009.

Sherry O’Toole, spokeswoman and project manager for Three Springs, said the purpose of the events is to “provide free community family-fun.”

Three Springs plans three movie nights throughout the summer, she said.

“Movie nights are geared towards family with younger children,” O’Toole said.

Also, the concerts provide Three Spring residents and other community members with an opportunity to enjoy live music, she said. It gives residents a place to walk to enjoy various activities.
