Unlike Obama, Schirard has done his job

In response to Candace Richerson (Letters, Herald, July 10), she should do more research. These were emails that had been sent to Sheriff Schirard by other law-enforcement colleagues, that were a comical opinion in nature and were forwarded by the sheriff, not authored by him. I think there are a lot of people in this country and county who do not respect the commander in chief because of all the lies and promises of hope and change he has lied about. Yes, there has been plenty of change, mostly negative and very costly. An approval rating of 41 percent to 43 percent ranks him as worst president since World War II.

Contrary to Richerson’s claims, Sheriff Schirard has done an excellent job of managing this office as sheriff for the past 20 years and will continue to do so after being re-elected for another four years. He is not refusing to uphold state law. We need someone with his professionalism and more importantly experience to lead this office with complex investigations, emergencies or disasters, the detentions facility and the array of many duties the sheriff is statutorily responsible for.

So, please do not refer to him as being unprofessional; it is insulting to his past 20 years of dedicated service to this community. I thank Sheriff Schirard and his deputies who put their lives on the line 24/7 to keep our community safe. I support him and plan to vote for him again in November.
