AA can help those who want to stop

The recent Herald story “Dangerously Drunk” (July 6) points out many of the downfalls of excessive drinking and many of the options for getting help. Dennis Dahlke said that “There is a real shortage of residential programs throughout the country.” This may be true for residential care but should certainly not be cause for delay in seeking help.

Alcoholics Anonymous is available to anyone with a desire to stop drinking, and there are more than 30 meetings a week in Durango, with more in outlying areas. One can call (888) 333-9649 to obtain meeting information and to get answers on obtaining help. There is no cost.
