Utah fires bring haze to Western Slope skies

The U.S. Forest Service’s Rocky Mountain Area Coordination Center reports that smoke in western Colorado is drifting in from numerous wildfires in Utah and the Pacific Northwest.

There are no large wildfires in western Colorado at this time.

The jet stream pushing the smoke is expected to shift east, allowing western Colorado skies to clear in the next few days.

Air-quality monitors indicate that the smoke in the area is well below standards for particulates that would indicate a problem.

Information about wildfire smoke is available from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment at www.colorado.gov/airquality/colo_advisory.aspx.
