Star party Saturday at Mancos State Park

Members of the Four Corners Stargazers Astronomy Club will host a star party at dark Saturday at Mancos State Park.

For those who want to learn more about the night sky over Colorado, the club will set up telescopes to help people see distant nebulae, stars and planets. The viewing starts as soon as the stars come out, and the telescopes will be set up until 11 p.m.

To get to the park, from Mancos go north on Colorado Highway 184 about a half mile, turn right at the state park sign and continue on the road for about five miles to the park entrance. Mancos is about 27 miles west of Durango on U.S. Highway 160.

The program is free, but entry to the park is $7 per vehicle.

To make camping reservations call (800) 678-2267, or visit http://coloradostateparks.reserveamerica.com and see the campground reservation section of the Colorado Parks and Wildlife website.
