Brewers pedaling 426 miles celebrating cycling in Colorado

A pack of brewers will descend on Durango this evening to celebrate the end of a 426-mile bike ride, and presumably nurse their saddle soreness with some beer.

The sixth annual Tour de BoulDurango ride will terminate at 5 p.m. at Ska Brewing Co. Ska will celebrate with the annual debut of Wheelsucker Wheat Ale and beers from all six breweries. Durango band The Lawn Chair Kings will play.

All proceeds will benefit Bicycle Colorado, a nonprofit group dedicated to building a bicycle-friendly state.

Over five days, brewers from Ska, Avery Brewing in Boulder, Boulder Beer, Left Hand Brewing in Longmont, Oskar Blues Brewing in Lyons and Great Divide Brewing in Denver rode the route from Avery to Ska. In between, they traversed Loveland Pass, Hoosier Pass and Cottonwood Pass en route to familiar San Juan Mountain passes Red Mountain, Molas and Coal Bank.
