Schreiner is shining at the Colorado Open

DHS alumnus leads at 12-under after 2 of 4 rounds

Devin Schreiner looks right at home at the Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in Denver.

The Durango High School alumnus and former Fort Lewis College golfer leads the 2014 Colorado Open at 12 strokes under par after shooting a 66 on Friday.

He led the field after the first day with a 64, as well.

Ian Davis of Edmond, Oklahoma, trails him by two strokes in second.

Fellow DHS graduate Keenan Holt didn’t fare as well. He shot 74-79–153, 11-over par and missed the cut.

Jakob and Micah Rudosky of Cortez both also missed the cut.Jakob shot a 7-over 149 across two days, while his father, Micah, the club pro at Conquistador Golf Club in Cortez, shot a 9-over 151.

Play will continue Saturday and Sunday.

Holt, Jakob Rudosky and Schreiner booked their spots in the field by virtue of their finishes in qualifying tournaments.

Schreiner, son of Kipp and Tammy Schreiner, won the qualifier July 17 at Legacy Ridge Golf Course in Westminster, while Holt finished tied for 11th in that tournament.

Jakob Rudosky qualified as an alternate by finishing in a tie for 14th place in a qualifier July 15 at Eagle Ranch Golf Club in Eagle.
